Virtual Dog Training Programs
At Synapse Canine, we offer many of our dog training programs in a virtual setting. Whether you’re looking to build a solid foundation with your new puppy, or are reaching the limits of your patience with your dog’s behavior, our virtual training programs are tailored to help you achieve your dog training goals – no matter where on the planet you are located or how busy your schedule may be.
Our virtual dog training programs give you access to the same level of expertise and high-quality service as our in-person offerings. As with every other aspect of our business, we have designed our virtual programs to provide you with the ultimate dog training experience. You’ll receive one-on-one instruction from our Lead Trainer, Stasia Dempster, with ongoing support available between lessons. We’ll work together through a structured lesson plan that is designed specifically for your needs.
We pride ourselves on building strong, longlasting relationships with our clients to ensure that your dog doesn’t just excel for the period of their training program – but for the rest of their life.
Which programs are available virtually?
The following programs are currently available virtually:
- Basic On-Leash Obedience Training (4 weeks)
- Advanced Obedience Training (4 weeks)
- Puppy Foundations 101 (8 weeks)
- Behavior Modification (6 weeks)*
- Specialized Training (duration varies)
* Depends on complexity and nature of the behavioral issue.
Some programs, by their nature, are simply not available or practical to deliver virtually (unfortunately, we haven’t found a way to train agility dogs through our laptops yet – but we’ll keep trying!). We have been careful to select which programs are available virtually. If a program requires specialized equipment (Agility, SAR, etc.) or contains an element of public socialization (ex: AKC Canine Good Citizen preparatory class), these are typically not offered in an online setting.
Many of our virtual obedience programs and virtual puppy programs are successful because the majority of our expertise lies in teaching you how to build a strong relationship with your dog – whether we do that in-person or online is immaterial.

At Synapse Canine, we have the education and experience to bring out the best in your dog.
If you have dog training goals, we want to help you achieve them!
How do our virtual dog training programs work?
When we first mention virtual programs as a potential option for our prospective clients, many of them ask us how they work.
There are some obvious differences between our virtual programs and our in-person programs, but our overall dog training process remains the same.
Step 1: if you decide you wish to move forward with a virtual dog training program, we will send you a program questionnaire to capture essential information.
Step 2: We offer a free 15-minute consultation over the phone to discuss your dog training goals and answer any questions you have for us.
Step 3: We offer a 50-minute video evaluation (charged at our standard evaluation rate) in which we’ll meet you and your dog, and discuss our plan for the program.
Step 4: If you wish to proceed with the program, you’ll sign up with a deposit (virtual training has the same payment plans available as our in-person services). You’ll receive our Welcome Pack – with a few add-ons for your virtual program, including access to a secure online folder which includes your training log and video tutorials.
Step 5: Each session in your program will be 50 minutes long and will take place on Google Meet. You will receive an Agenda outline for the session the day prior. Sessions are saved and recorded in your online client folder so that they can be referred back to afterwards. We also provide a Recap the day after your session, which includes a summary of what was covered.
Step 6: In-between lessons, you will have access to our team and will be able to send questions via text or email.
After your program is complete, you’ll also have access to other benefits, including discounts on future programs and our consulting services.

Frequently Asked Questions
Below, we have covered some of the most frequently asked questions regarding our virtual dog training programs. If you have a question that isn’t covered here, please reach out to us.
How does virtual dog training differ from in-person dog training?
Aside from the obvious difference that we are behind a laptop screen with virtual programs, there aren’t a lot of differences in terms of the content and learning that takes place during a virtual program. Virtual clients receive the same lesson plans and structured one-on-one teaching as our in-person clients. However, our virtual clients also receive additional support in between sessions, and a whole range of curated resources to help supplement their training.
Who is virtual training designed for?
Our virtual programs offer flexibility around work and family commitments that may make in-person lessons difficult to schedule; for instance, sessions can be scheduled on evenings or weekends when they may not otherwise be available. They are also a great option if you do not live inside our service area, have young children (we love having kids involved in our sessions!), or have a dog who is scared or aroused by having strangers in the home.
When can virtual training take place?
Sessions can be scheduled between the times of 6:00am and 10:00pm on weekdays. Weekend appointments are available upon request.
What are the benefits of virtual dog training?
There are numerous benefits to our virtual dog training programs. They offer unparalleled flexibility and remove commuting time. The process of virtual training is great for those who are independent learners and want to be directly involved in the training process – and helps to ensure your dog’s behavior remains consistent, even after the program is complete. With Synapse Canine, you’ll also get one-on-one support between sessions, and the ability to re-watch previous sessions anytime.
